Hannah Melissa Borja
Mel is a third-year majoring in Global Security & Justice at the University of Virginia and plans to attend law school after graduation. In addition to running Pride on the Corner, she works as an Outreach Worker for Central Virginia Legal Aid Society, Inc. Virginia Farm Workers Program and serves as an UndocuAlly Coordinator of the undocumented student advocacy group DREAMers on Grounds. She is heavily involved in social activism both within and outside her university. When she finally takes time for herself, she enjoys napping.
When asked how she came up with the idea of Pride on the Corner, she recalls, “I was sitting at the bar where I worked at the time. I was bored out of my mind and suddenly I asked, “Why don’t we have a gay bar on The Corner? And here we are.”

Katelyn is a fourth year at the University of Virginia, double majoring in Sociology and Global Studies: Security & Justice, with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Katelyn aims to attend law school after graduation with the goal of becoming a human rights lawyer.
Katelyn is very active in the Young Women Leaders Program (YWLP), having served as a mentor for two years. She is the Global Intern for the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women’s Center. Katelyn also serves on the Webmaster for DREAMers on Grounds. In her spare time, Katelyn enjoys binge watching documentaries and planning her next travel adventure.
